Overview
govAccess is an ASP.NET based Content Management System developed by Granicus, Inc. and is used by the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners to manage the hernandocounty.us site content.
Main Features
Some of the main features that the CMS provides are:
- Page Management
- Allows the management of pages based on content groups. County Departments are broken down by these groups which also helps control the users that have access to these content groups for editing purposes.
- News Stories
- This feature allows IT and the Public Information Officer to create notices on the website. They are also dependent on content groups which helps route notices to the appropriate page and county department.
- Calendar Events
- Similar to news stories, calendar events add an entry on the main site calendar which allows the public to see events, and view more information regarding the date and location of the event.
- Document Central
- This is the main document repository that is also broken down by content group. Each group is split by the department into a folder. Each folder has subfolders that allow us to categorize each type of document (ex: HR > Job Descriptions).
- FAQ
- This feature allows a component to be added to the pages that permits a sequence of questions and their answers to be added to a page.
- Image Library
- This is the main image repository. These are categorized a bit differently than document central.
- Surveys
- This is the "forms" module of the CMS. This allows us to create and publish forms that can be called within pages for the appropriate departments. Once the public completes the form, submissions can be viewed by form/survey at the Survey module.
User Accounts
There are two types of user accounts: CMS Users and Website Users. CMS users are allowed to manage content, whereas Website users can receive notifications such as Public Notices and other news stories entered on the CMS. For content management purposes, the CMS User account type is the one maintained consistently by the IT department.
